Girls In BioWorks

Girls in BioWorks

Girls in BioWorks is a partnership between Johnson & Johnson, WEP, and Wilson County Schools.

This program is offered to juniors in our traditional high schools and seniors at WAAT. Students will engage with female leaders in the pharmaceutical industry to gain valuable leadership and technical insights. These leaders serve as role models, demonstrating resilience, innovation, and inclusive leadership. Through mentorship, hands-on learning, and real-world examples, students will explore the diverse career paths involved in creating life-changing products, including manufacturing, quality control, and supply chain operations. They will work on critical soft skills such as communication, problem-solving, and teamwork.

Students will also be introduced to the BioWork Certificate Program, which prepares individuals for entry-level process technician roles in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and chemical manufacturing industries. The program covers topics such as industry safety, Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), process manufacturing, chemistry, quality control, aseptic processing, and professional development skills.

Selected students will receive the following benefits:
  • Hands on activities that will expose you to different areas of the pharmaceutical industry

  • Opportunities to make connections with staff and meet organizational leaders

  • Time to connect with female mentors/leaders on soft skills

  • Career readiness, including developing soft skills and resume-building support

  • Program Certificate
